This machine is used to ream, button rifle pistol and rifle barrels. While Barrels and Actions describes the machine and its use, this manual goes into details on the construction. 

 

There are two types of rifling machines described in this manual, one is a horizontal, and the other is a vertical machine. Both use Hydraulic pressure to pull the buttons through the finish bore. There are dozens of detail drawings on their construction.
